In a teen movie, the Longfellow Grill would be the smart and sassy new girl who's had the makeover, but still knows who she is. Featuring roughly the same menu as sisters Highland Grill and Edina Grill, Longfellow is a little sexier, a little more amped. Perched on a great corner at E. Lake St. and River Road Parkway, this grill has a full bar and a killer patio. But decked, as she is, in electric greens and splashy purples, she still knows how to turn out a stellar Elvis burger or rich and satisfying leek and sage risotto cakes. Within an up-and-coming part of Lake Street, it's sure to become a stand-in-line destination for brunch on weekends, and who wouldn't wait for those breakfast kabobs with kicky andouille sausage or the creamy spinach and tomato scramble with brie.

I ordered eggplant parmesan and it arrived like a stack of pancakes and without much sauce. I didn't expect that, but maybe I am too used to the Olive Garden presentations.

A good balance between twists on the traditional and the traditional. Longfellow Grill (along with Edina Grill & Highland Grill) is a standard place where everyone can find something they like. The tempura beans and sweet potato fries were less greasy than usual (typically too oily.) The BLAT was a great extension of the ordinary BLT with the addition of avocado, arugala, and horseradish mayo. Very generous with the bacon and roasted tomatoes. Plus the tuna melts are made with tuna fillets. They also have outdoor seating.

May husband and I had read a lot about this place and we enjoy the Edina Grill, so one Saturday afternoon we decided to stop. We were disappointed in the outside dining. We had read how it was near the river and what a great view. Truth be told it was on an extremely busy street with buses, cars, trucks and motorcycles going by and I couldn't see the river (perhaps if you're 7 feet tall). The food was very good. Slight issue with our service but we were offered a free dessert because of it.

Very nice atmosphere in the dining room. There was some outdoor seating, but the view is really more of busy E. Lake Street than the Mississippi River. The "Killer Waffles" were excellent and the Breakfast Burrito was good as well. Somewhere between the table and the kitchen our order got lost, so we were offered a free dessert to compensate for the delay, but we were too stuffed from our meal to take advantage.

I ate the 3 course Restaurant Week offering of Moroccan Lamb Stew. It began with a nice salad of field greens. The main course, the stew, had apricot in it that I thought overpowered most of the other flavors, including the lamb, chickpeas and onion. It was supposed to have cilantro and other spices, but they weren't noticeable over the apricot flavor. My bf ordered the Cajun Fettuccine which was pretty good. The standout was our excellent waitress who was accommodating and attentive.

This grill has a great variety of food on the menu, including breakfast, and daily specials ranging from a more traditional meatloaf to enchiladas to an interesting (and tasty) mandarin orange & coconut pancake, and includes a full bar. There is something for everyone. I would definitely recommend this. restaurant to those looking for fresh food at an affordable price. Don't forget the sweet potato fries!

It was a really busy afternoon with everyone stopping in after biking along the river. The service was wonderful, very attentive, considering how crowded it was in there. The best part of the meal was the beer battered green beans. They were served with plum sauce. The rest of our sandwiches were good, but the heeping pile of green beans stands out.
